Renee Kathleen Zellweger
Renee Kathleen Zellweger was born on the
25th of April, 1969, in Katy, Texas, Her mother, Kjellfrid Irene (Andreassen)
is a nurse born in Norway, former and midwife, with Norwegian, Kven (Finnish)
and Swedish descent. Emil Erich Zellweger is her father. He is a Swiss
engineer. They were married in the year 1963. Drew Zellweger was Renee's older
brother. He is a marketing executive who was born on February 15, 1967. Renee
began her interest in acting at the age of 14 as she worked in the drama group.
In Austin, she also attended an acting course and decided to study acting as a
profession. She was determined to act after graduation, but Hollywood can be
hard to break into. Renee decided not to leave Texas and went to audition at
Houston for roles. While working on the sequel, Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The
Next Generation (1994), she befriended Matthew McConaughey, another Hollywood
newcomer. Renee was aware that he was working on a film and auditioned. She was
offered the role in Love as well as a 45 (1994). The film was a huge success
and earned her the respect of many that she moved to Los Angeles. Her big break
came with another role in The Whole Wide World (1996). Cameron Crowe was busy
casting Jerry Maguire (1996) which starred Tom Cruise. Crowe was taking a look
at actresses like Bridget Fonda and Marisa Tomei when the performance of
Zellweger on The Whole Wide World (1996). The audition was conducted by
Zellweger to ensure that the actress was in fact his Dorothy Boyd. Renee
continued her great success in small independent films. Her films received even
more praise from critics, and was confident enough that she was able to reenter
large-budget Hollywood films. Meryl Streep starred alongside her in One True
Thing (1998). She also starred in Me, Myself & Irene (2000) with Jim
Carrey and shortly after began dating Carrey. She played the title role in
Bridget Jones's Diary (2001).
